About Rebecca Weiss

I was born outside Rochester, NY, the youngest of four kids. My dad, an instrumental music
teacher, my mom, a teacher's assistant. We spent all our summers at our cottage on the finger
lakes.
Always introspective, I started journaling at 10 because my older sister did. I loved to read, then
and now, and usually choose books about psychology and spirituality. I was pondering
existential questions very early, like why am I here, and what (and where) is God?
After graduating from FSU, my soul was aching to expand. A love for theater led me to pursue
an acting career, so I moved to New York City to study. When I first arrived in NY, one of the
women in my dorm invited me to an ashram upstate, and that’s where I learned to chant and
meditate. Om Namah Shivaya was the first mantra I learned. In New York I supported myself as
a waitress and makeup artist, which eventually led to BIO, my signature women’s empowerment
program that concludes with style and makeup.
After 14 years, the disappointment of my acting career not taking off and a deeply codependent
relationship, found me depressed and drinking. At the suggestion of a dear friend, I made my
way into the rooms of AA. The tools of 12-step recovery helped me tremendously and gave me
the template to hold a safe and expressive space for others.
Love and the desire for a family brought me to Clermont, Fl.
The stress of a colicky baby had me running to a yoga class that was offered at the NTC. I fell in
love, and eventually followed my heart to teach.
One of my greatest honors to date was the opportunity to assist-teach the 200 hour yoga
teacher training at One Yoga and Fitness. What a joy to teach alongside my friend and mentor, Gina Keefe, and to experience this transformational journey with kindred spirits!
Several years ago, my friend Jenny Clarke introduced me to Kundalini Yoga. Today it is my
practice of choice, because it supports me holistically with anxiety and depression. I became
certified through Jenny’s kundalini yoga teacher training in her first graduating class in 2022 and
teach kundalini twice a week at One Yoga.
Researching a masters degree to become a therapist led me to Somatic Coaching. More and
more people are realizing how the body stores memory and holds the information we need to
heal trauma, uncover blocks and move through fear and self-sabotage by listening to our bodies
cues. I became a Certified Somatic Coach through the Embody Lab and studied with Dr Peter
Levine, (the creator of Somatic Experiencing), Dr Richard Strozzi and countless other acclaimed
teachers.
Somatic Coaching is the perfect occupation for me because I get to hold a safe and
transformative space for others. It offers fast and effective healing and creates/supports lasting
change by grounding new insights into the body. It continually surprises me how powerfully
people shift out of unwanted, destructive patterns into awareness and life affirming choices.

My coaching work integrates somatic experiencing, kundalini yoga and self-inquiry, also called
“the work,” by Byron Katie.
The most important job I have ever done is to raise my son, who is 19 now, and entering the
Coast Guard. He has provided me the opportunity to practice real-life yoga, the most
challenging vinyasa we will ever do.
I cannot imagine my life without it.
